ABOUT ATIYA WALCOTT

ATIYA|WALCOTT
Atiya Walcott, a recent graduate of Wesleyan University's College of Film and the Moving Image, is an aspiring cinematographer residing in Los Angeles. At the young age of 22, Atiya has a strong eye for interesting and compelling compositions, with a tendency toward poetic, new wave inspired, handheld camera work. Though her portfolio is small, it is strong due to her background in the historical and theoretical study of filmmaking.
As a cinematographer Atiya strives to enhance the writer and directors' narrative with a cinematic narrative—visual storytelling. Atiya wants her framing, depth of field, and lighting, to tell the story as much as the protagonist's own words and actions.
Having written, edited, produced, and directed her own senior thesis film, Atiya continues to develop her eye. ACW|FILM's iphone short series enables Atiya to develop and experiment daily. Professionally she has worked as a production intern for Jax Media ('Broad City'), where she got to production assist on set for Comedy Centrals' 'Broad City,' 'Netflix' The Characters,' and 'Search Party,' coming to tbs this fall.
